Isafjordur shore excursions

Dress in layers and bring waterproof and windproof clothing to ensure a comfortable and safe experience. If we cancel the tour due to bad weather, you will receive an email and an offer to reschedule. Unfortunately, this tour is not suitable for the physically disabled nor for people using wheelchairs as the tour includes a walk on uneven paths. The 3-hour tour starts as we depart from Ísafjörður and after a half an hour boat ride we get to the shore of the island.

Tours Excursions Transportation:

Dynjandi is the most famous and best waterfall in Westfjords and one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. Yes, it takes an hour and a half to get to the waterfall by car, but the drive is very scenic, and the falls are worth the time and effort. If you're planning to explore the Westfjords, Isafjordur might be the right place to take a break or even spend the night. In the mid-summer, the atmosphere in this town was very relaxed, and we enjoyed every second in Isafjordur. It does not matter whether you have only a couple of hours for Isafjordur or several days.

Music and festivals in Isafjordur

The days when cruising meant a seven-day voyage in the Caribbean are well and truly behind us, with destinations worldwide becoming more and more popular. One destination that has seen a steady increase in cruise arrivals, including even a naming ceremony for a Norwegian Cruise Line ship, is Iceland. Road 60 is also more prone to heavy snowfalls, and when this route is blocked, locals and travelers need to drive counterclockwise around the whole Westfjords to reach Isafjordur. Iceland's Westfjords is 99% about nature, so we were glad that we had an opportunity to visit a place connected with local culture and history.

Dynjandi Waterfall Cruise Ship Tour from Isafjordur Port

For water lovers, kayaking allows you to explore the serene fjords and the rugged coastline up close. Paddle through the calm waters, taking in the dramatic cliffs and abundant marine wildlife. Local tour operators provide guided trips and equipment rentals for a safe and memorable experience. However, if you’re interested in winter sports like skiing or snowboarding, or if you want to experience the Northern Lights, visiting Isafjordur between December and February might be more suitable.

Getting Around Isafjordur Port

The town lies on the eastern shore of the Ísafjarðardjúp fjord, a large inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. The nearest settlements to Isafjordur are the villages of Bolungarvík to the north and Suðureyri to the south, both situated along the coastline. The Westfjords region is characterized by its dramatic fjords, rugged cliffs, and remote valleys, which contribute to the captivating beauty of the area surrounding Isafjordur.

Fjords & Flowers

With a passion for showcasing the best of Ísafjörður, our tours are meticulously designed to ensure an enriching and enjoyable experience for all our guests. Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides are committed to providing insightful narratives that bring the history, culture, and natural beauty of the area to life. If you’re into hiking, you can explore the surrounding trails and hiking paths that lead to different viewpoints of the waterfall.

According to the medieval Icelandic Book of Settlement, Isafjordur's history reaches back to the 9th century. One day is, in our opinion, not enough, so the minimum amount of time you should allow yourself is at least two days. Like most regions and places in Iceland, Isafjordur has an incredible setting. Prices are clearly displayed and since Iceland is a near cashless society you can pay everything with your credit and debit card. There is no need to exchange to the local currency in the port of call of Ísafjörður. Isafjordur Port (locode ISISA) is on Isafardjup - one of Iceland's most deeply indented fjords.

Also, in the winter, you can expect limited daylight hours, which is something you must really take into consideration when planning your vacation. Visiting the area during the shoulder months such as May and October is also possible, but check carefully the weather forecast and the official website, where you can see the current closures of roads. Isafjordur's surroundings and Westfjords overall are best to be explored on your own with the possibility to make a stop whenever you feel it is worth it. Road 61 follows the east part of the peninsula, and Road 60 encircles Westfjords and leads to Patreksfjordur. Mid-range | Hotel Horn - This modern hotel has a lovely design, and travelers will surely appreciate large rooms. Some of the properties are open only seasonally, so always check out the availability if you plan to travel outside the summer season.

Upon reaching Vigur Island, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the natural wonders and observe the vibrant birdlife, including puffins and other seabirds. The tranquility and unique charm of Vigur Island make this boat tour a memorable adventure, allowing you to connect with Iceland’s rich natural heritage just a short distance from Isafjordur port. During season 2017, Port Isafjordur had scheduled a total of 106 cruise ship calls.

The homemade refreshments add a personal touch that can make the experience even more special and memorable. Depending on the booking situation, various excursions are also offered in German, Spanish, French, Italian or Russian (minimum number of 30 participants). Isafjordur, Iceland, might not be on the list of obvious choices to cruise to when booking a voyage.

The town serves as an ideal base for those seeking adventure amidst breathtaking landscapes, with a range of popular activities that cater to different interests and skill levels. If you prefer a road trip, you can rent a car and drive to Isafjordur from Reykjavik. The journey is around 455 km (283 miles) and takes approximately 6-7 hours, depending on weather and road conditions. The route takes you along the Ring Road (Route 1) and then onto Route 60 through the Westfjords. This scenic drive offers a chance to explore the beautiful landscapes of the Westfjords at your own pace, but keep in mind that some roads might be closed or difficult to navigate in winter. Ísafjördur is preemptively solving the issue, allowing the town time to invest in growth.

Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the western fjords and witness the beauty of Dynjandi on our half-day tour. The scenic drive along coastal roads and through mountain tunnels in the Westfjords adds to the adventure. 195 cruise ships are expected to visit Isafjordur this year with a maximum of 255,000 passengers, according to the port authorities, known best for its enchanting fjords and rich Viking history. Included in the cruise ships that will visit this year are both smaller expedition cruise ships, and large passenger ships. Depending on the size of your ship you will either dock or tender in Ísafjörður. Isafjordur and the Westfjords region is truly a paradise for outdoor lovers, providing a plethora of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts to revel in the area’s natural beauty.

The beach comes the most alive on July 1st, when revelers come in to celebrate Canada Day. Horseshoe Bay continues to be one of the most popular beaches in Bermuda, and it’s well worth the 35-minute ride to get there. Located on the southern side of the main island, it’s one of the most photographed beaches in the world. It comes with calm currents and a lifeguard on duty in the summer, so the whole family can enjoy swimming.

Day Bermuda Cruise

The Dockyard area near the cruise ship has quite a lot to do and see, however do plan your Bermuda itinerary carefully. You simply take the 25 minute ferry ride from the ship dock to Hamilton. I suggest going a bit early as the ferry line does get long and it will be crowded.

You’ll see long stretches of blush pink sand and striking rock formations, jutting out from the turquoise waters close by the shoreline. A shuttle or the local bus will take you to the beautiful pink beaches on the south shore of the island. The ferries are the best way to get to Hamilton Parish and St. George, where you’ll find many attractions and natural wonders. About 1000 kilometers away from the American mainland, the Bermuda islands are a unique holiday destination with a mixture of subtropical landscapes and a British ambiance. Sunbathing at pink-sand beaches, watersport activities in the crystal clear sea, the capital Hamilton and the UNESCO world heritage site St. George are among the main attractions.

There's plenty to find atop this ship, where you can spend your days being kissed by the warm rays of the sun. Visit the biggest Serenity area ever, featuring three decks, plenty of recliners... Carnival WaterWorks™, our onboard waterpark, doesn't just deliver the favorites... Whether you’re looking for a romantic activity to do in Bermuda or just something unique and fun with the whole family, you’ll find it on this Bermuda Sunset Sailaway. A relaxing and enjoyable cruise sails along the North Shore, Hamilton Harbor and Great Sound during the calm, serene evening. Carnival Pride charms, alright — it's a treat for your eyes, your taste buds...

Invite them all to come enjoy the vacation that this ship is proud to offer. Bermuda is a bit on the expensive side, as a lot is imported from the US or Britain. Since you are cruising, try to plan your day so that you can take advantage of eating some meals on the ship and some meals in Bermuda. I quite like catamaran and boat excursions as for me it is the right amount of “organization”, local information from the tour operator or guide, and activity to make it an enjoyable part of our visit. My husband and I first walked through this Moongate in 2008 during our first visit to Bermuda by cruise.

It’s a great way to view the amazing marine life around the island and enjoy a relaxing cruise along the coast at the same time. You'll find yourself with room to move at the Beauties Dance Club, and a hard time sitting still at Playlist Productions™. And if all the waterslide action leaves you needing a little extra unwinding, we recommend you dry off and head to the Cloud 9 Spa™.

The super large aquarium is the main attraction, and is a living replica of Bermuda’s coral reef – so you’ll see a wide variety of Bermuda marine life here. If you head into town a couple hours before, you can visit some of the Government buildings and beautiful churches and perhaps do a bit of shopping. You can also check out some of the popular local restaurants and people watch. Just a ferry ride away from Royal Navy Dockyard is Hamilton, the capital city of Bermuda. If you enjoy history, consider spending a day in Hamilton to see the sights. Located in St. George’s parish, Tobacco Bay Beach is considered to be one of the best Bermuda Beaches for snorkeling.

Or, if you’d rather be a bit warmer as you cycle through the countryside or wander medieval streets, April or May might be a better choice. A visit in October will add autumnal magic to a stroll along the canals as the leaves fall around you. There are some venues on each ship where dress codes don’t apply, so make sure you check your Horizon paper that’s delivered to your cabin each day to check where these are, as they vary ship by ship.

What to pack in your cruise carry-on packing list + tips

cruise carry on bag

You simply attach it to things you don’t want to lose, for example, keys, wallet, or luggage. Instead of just trying to balance the bag on the top, there is a built-in sleeve so it fits over the handle of the carry-on case. It comes in a variety of colors and you can either opt for the front pocket for your laptop or get the slightly cheaper version without that. This comes in really handy though when you are going through airport security and need to take your laptop out and put it in the bin for TSA. These days I am hyper-focused on where everything is in my carry-on bag, so I can find it the moment I need it.

It is also potentially incredibly useful if an airline loses your luggage – you should be able to see it’s location. I don’t pretend to understand how it works, but apparently, it uses other Apple devices such as phones to locate the item. For those of you new to AirTags it is Apple’s Bluetooth tracking device.

You’ll also want to know what the dress code is, what types of dinners there are, and what you’ll be doing at the various ports of call. Join me as we explore the captivating world of cruise ships together. If you’re a health nut or following any diet plan, you must carry some nutritious snacks in your cruise carry-on. On the very first cruise day, I usually wear chunky heel sandals that look gorgeous, and I feel so confident in them. But they are not as comfortable as my causal flip-flops that’s why I always pack a pair of lightweight flip-flops in my cruise carry-on. After arriving at my stateroom, I always opt for these comfortable slippers.

What about rules for carry-on luggage for my cruise?

cruise carry on bag

Any high-quality waterproof sports shoes are a good investment if you want to pare down the number of shoes you require. I usually pack my tennis shoes for workouts or morning ship walks, too. A pair of flat, strappy sandals doesn't take up much space and works well with skirts or can level up a pair of shorts for a dressier look. If your luggage is delayed, you don’t want to ruin the first day of your cruise by worrying about whether or not your jewelry is missing or damaged. Plus, you may want to wear the jewelry to dinner on your first evening, and there's no guarantee your luggage will arrive in time. Before entering the cruise terminal, make sure you have your cell phone!

Important documents

cruise carry on bag

This allows you to pack fewer cruise outfits and ensures you have clean clothes throughout your cruise vacation. Packing in a carry-on bag, whether using packing cubes or not, requires a strategic approach to maximize space and keep your belongings organized. Consider the duration of the cruise, how many sea days and port days, and evening wear expectations. Most 7 day cruises will have 5 casual or smart casual nights and 2 formal or “dress-up” nights. I admit, there were some advantages to packing light on a cruise.

We always recommend wearing tennis shoes on the first day of a Royal Caribbean cruise. If you’re cruising with kids, a little more preparation is necessary in order to ensure you have everything you need in your cruise carry-on. If they check your bag, there’s a good chance it will be delayed and you may find yourself at Guest Services in the afternoon inquiring about when your bag will arrive.

Cruise Tips That Feel Wrong (But Are 100% Right)

After the pandemic, I’m too conscious about sanitizing my hands, and it’s more like my habit now, that’s why I always pack hand sanitizers in my bag. Always keep it in your hand-carry purse because you are going to be in great need of it on embarkation day. Looking for a carry-on bag that can work as your personal item on a plane?

Each cruise line will have a page online that will spell out exactly which documents you need to board your cruise. Do you have any questions about bringing cruise luggage rules and restrictions? In this video, I share more detailed information about cruise luggage allowances, rules and limits, as well as some cruise tips that you can use. Cruise lines aren’t very strict about how much luggage you can bring, however they do have some suggestions and guidelines. A good rule of thumb is to pack 1-2 pieces of luggage per person, with a maximum weight of 50 lbs or 22.5 kg.

Before you get ready to go, check with the cruise line so that you know what the guidelines are for baggage. I have tried my best to cover some of the important cruise carry-on essentials. But still, if any item is skipped, you can mention that in the comment box. I hope you will like this short packing guide, and it will be a helpful one for you.

I also like to make a mini cruise first-aid kit and keep a few things we may need for the day, like pain reliever (Advil or Tylenol) as well as some Tums or Rolaids. This garment bag folds up into a compact and travel friendly size. We used it on our last cruise and our clothing arrived wrinkle free. Perhaps the most versatile, the duffle bag with wheels is a popular choice for a cruise carry on bag. This is what we’ve used on our last 2 cruises, which included pre-cruise hotel stays as well.

I made a cruise carry-on bag packing list that you can download for free (see below). There's nothing like a flight or a long drive to make you feel grimy. On embarkation day, you'll leave large bags with a porter at the dock, and it's not unusual for that luggage to take hours to arrive at your cabin. To be sure you have something clean to change into before dinner, pack an extra set of underwear and clothes in your carry-on, tote or backpack. Opt for clothing that's at least somewhat wrinkle resistant (in other words, no linen).

So, pop a favourite book, toy and some snacks into your carry-on and hopefully you’ll escape any meltdowns. Just pop the card in the wallet and the lanyard around your neck and you are good to go. If the worst does happen, there are laundry services onboard you can use but this will come with an additional cost. It’s also a good idea to have some sunscreen or lip balm with you just in case you want to sit on deck and enjoy the sun on your first afternoon onboard.

You have no control over when that checked luggage will be delivered to your cabin. The crew works incredibly hard to deliver everything quickly, but even at one bag per passenger, you are talking about THOUSANDS of pieces of luggage that need to be delivered! On our many cruises, we have had some luggage delivered within our first hour on the ship… while other trips our bags have not appeared until after dinner that first evening. No matter whatever cruise line you’re going on, on embarkation day you must hand over your luggage to the porters for security checks.

With a little bit of planning and organisation of both your checked luggage and your cruise carry-on bag you can set yourself up for a smooth and stress free embarkation. My Chacos sandals serve me well in my minimalist vacation wardrobe. They're my hiking, kayaking, beach day, walking tour, multi-purpose shoes.

If you're using a backpack with a side pocket, these often fit right inside it. Identification is the single most important thing you need to keep in your carry-on (in addition to medication). In addition to boarding documents, cruise lines require all passengers to present government-issued identification in order to embark. That means you'll need either a passport or a driver's license and birth certificate. You ID is necessary if you're flying to your departure port as well. If you tuck these items safely into your smallest carry-on (such as a purse or backpack), you'll prevent loss and keep everything easily accessible.

This means through the security process, up the gangway, and maybe even to the buffet for lunch. When you check your bags at the cruise terminal, they are taken, X-rayed, and then loaded onto the ship. This carry-on bag will stay with you and be run through an X-ray machine in the terminal, similar to an airport.

Unveiling the Secrets: Non-Dentist Ownership of UK Dental Practices

Unveiling the Secrets: Non-Dentist Ownership of UK Dental Practices

In the United Kingdom, it is possible for a non-dentist to own a dental practice. However, the practice must be managed by a registered dentist, and the non-dentist owner cannot provide any clinical services. This arrangement is known as a "corporate dentistry" model.
